How to Return empty bottles to supplier

Hi.
I would like to ask how properly implement the returning of empty bottles to
a supplier?
Should include the empty bottles in my purchase orders so that I would have
orderItems to return?
I havent seen a purchase order here that includes how many bottles and/or
plastic crates I should be getting.
I mean usually, if I would be ordering Coke 330ml Bottles, I would indicate
how many of those I would be
getting in cases instead of bottles. So my purchase order would only contain
Coke 330ml Cases (no bottles or crates).

Or am I doing it all wrong?
Should I even send it thru Returns or Shipment?

Sorry Im not sure a better way to describe this scenario...
