--- Comment #3 from Rainer Bielefeld <ra...@bielefeldundbuss.de> ---
Hi David, as Edwin already stated, "I try and fail" is a much too rare report.
We need a detailed instruction how to reproduce your problem containing every
key press and every mouse click you do during instruction.

a) for all further attempts please uninstall old versions before you install

b) Try to install after you have renamed your user profile

<http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/How_Tos/Handling_the_OpenOffice.org_User_Profile>
   and the old program folder. Report your results here
c) If 'b' did not work try a server installation after you have read
   <http://www.oooninja.com/2009/03/openofficeorg-3-install-portable-how.html>
   <http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Run_OOo_versions_parallel#Windows>
   Short instruction:
   1) Unzip the downloaded .exe installation file using an unzipper like "7
Zip"
   2) Copy attached .bat into the folder containing the installation.msi
   3) Adapt path of "openoffice400.msi" and target path concerning your
      needs
   4) run the batch by a simple double click (you need to be administrator)
   5) tell us your results

   If 'c' also will fail (I doubt) the "AOOo4adminwin7.log" might contain
   information showing the root of your problem.
