[jira] [Commented] (INFRA-12662) old mail-search 'advanced' might consume too much resources

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-12662?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15525323#comment-15525323 ]

Greg Stein commented on INFRA-12662:
------------------------------------

Note: the intent is to search members@ for "all time" ... when I suggested using lists.a.o, Mark noted it only searches the past month. That leaves me with two concerns: can lists.a.o search a broader range, and Mark's original concern of whether his search inappropriately loads our machine.

> When searching the mail archives https://mail-search.apache.org/search/ in 'Advanced' mode, the query doesn't return.
> I did search for:
> listname:members subject:"GIT"
> And then I'll get the sandclock for ages.
> I'm not worried that I cannot find anything, but more that this spawns an expensive process on our servers which locks down a CPU core with every search...
