Merlin 2 *alpha* distribution available

All,

for those that want to check out the Merlin 2 container currently in the
works, but do not have CVS access or ant available, I have made
available a few files at

http://cvs.apache.org/~leosimons/excalibur/assembly/

the file

http://cvs.apache.org/~leosimons/excalibur/assembly/merlin-2.0a-fat-08092002.tgz

provides a binary distribution which you can run (after extracting)
using by simply typing "kernel.bat" or "./kernel.sh" (depending on the
platform your using. The other files are the distributions as they are
generated by doing "ant dist" in CVS. They're mainly useful for looking
at sources.

If you don't know what merlin is but would like to learn more, you can
take a look at

http://jakarta.apache.org/avalon/excalibur/merlin

for more information. Please do understand that this software is very
much in an alpha stage, and things may break, move around, etc; while
we'll offer some support in getting things working (just send an e-mail
to the -users list detailing your worries ;), you're mostly on your own
atm.

regards,

Leo Simons
