dom.ASBuilder [Error]:-1:-1: for all errors

hi;

ASBuilder has the ability to validate XMLSchema - MASSIVE JOY! thankyou!

however. the code doesnt return an accurate Error value. everything is
-1:-1:

so, i went to the javadocs and thence to the cvs server so that i could
research this a little more, because i feel that it is very LAME to not
try and figure it out yourself first!

so, ASBuilder uses handleError to present the Error messages to the
user. the specific code in question that emits the -1:-1 is this:

        System.err.print(':');
        System.err.print(error.getLocation().getLineNumber());
        System.err.print(':');
        System.err.print(error.getLocation().getColumnNumber());
        System.err.print(": ");

a review of the javadocs indicates that the implementer of the interface
org.apache.xerces.dom3.DOMLocator provides the functionality behind

getColumnNumber() and getLineNumber().

these are supposed to present -1 if they dont actually *have* a value to
present.

so, what class implements the interface?

and what's going on that would cause it to not have the correct value?

tnx for any help you can provide!
