[Bug 120362] New: program crashes during opening, saving, and
editing documents.
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=120362
Priority: P3
Bug ID: 120362
Assignee: ooo-issues@incubator.apache.org
Summary: program crashes during opening, saving, and editing
documents.
Severity: critical
Issue Type: DEFECT
Classification: Application
OS: Windows 7
Reporter: morgan.janet@verizon.net
Hardware: PC
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: AOO 3.4.0
Component: open-import
Product: word processor
I've used Open Office for a few years, and have never had the problems I'm
experiencing with 3.4.0 Apache. The program crashes when I open, edit, or save
a doc every time I use the program. It has negatively effected the performance
of my computer in general. I've had it! Should I uninstall Apache and go back
to a previous version.

The user folder contains a file "registrymodifications.xcu". Please rename it
and try again. The user folder is located in Documents and Settings\<your
account>\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice.org\3\. It is a hidden folder, you might
need to set the explorer to show hidden files.
There have been some reports about crashes after update, but we could not find
a pattern yet. Do you have used macro libraries or do you have installed
extensions?

Every time I attempt to open the program it crashes within 10 seconds. A file
recovery window pops up which freezes and I have to force close the program. I
have used Open Office for quite some time and just upgraded to 3.4.1 about a
week ago and just today this started happening. You need to fix this NOW! I
need this program for school!

Hi neking03, please read section "Known Issues" on
http://www.openoffice.org/development/releases/3.4.1.html, read the tutorial of
the forum (link there) and follow the advise. Ask in the forum, if AOO still
does not start for you.
