[users@httpd] Bandwidth

Is there a module for Apache2 that runs on Windows2K Server that manages
bandwidth. I just need it to report bandwidth usage but if it can limit it
that's even better.

[users@httpd] Apache not shutting down idle processes

Hello all:

I've got machine running Apache 1.3.27, RedHat 7.2. 2 gigs of RAM, 2 2 GHz
Xeon processors.

Symptom: over time, more and more apache processes are opened, up to the cap
of 150, at which point the machine is critically low on RAM.

Why is Apache not reusing these processes? It seems to keep opening more and
more until it chokes. I have MaxSpareServers set to something like 20.

I get about 700 users a day on the system. Today already so far I've had 250
and they have only opened 25 Apache processes. It doesn't seem like I should
ever need 150.

My only thought is that it has something to do with PHP. All the server does
is serve a PHP app, which opens a lot of database connections. These are not
persistent connections, though.

Any ideas? My users are getting killed ...
