Collecting goals for the next cycle of improvement to our development
/ build / release processes
Hi -
I started a wiki page
(http://cwiki.apache.org/UIMA/redesign-for-more-standards-including-maven.html)
to flesh out some goals for an update to our svn layout and build
processes, based on my recent experiences.
So far it's just a collection of annoyances etc. that have been observed
by various people, usually while trying to get builds done etc.;
addressing these are listed as "goals" of a better design.
A top level goal is to move toward a more "standard" approach for things
(standard = the way most Java projects in Apache are doing things),
including using Maven in a more standard way.
Contributions to the wiki topic are welcome, of course. And, we can
discuss/clarify on this mailing list.
Once we have a nice set of goals, I'll take a crack at proposing some
changes toward addressing those.
