Publishing the 6.0.2 beta jars in a maven repository will allow maven based
projects that depend on tomcat to automatically download the tomcat jars at
build time. Sample poms for this feature were requested in a user list
discussion at :

I will attach a copy of the poms I created in my local maven repo by using
commands like:
bash-3.1$ mvn install:install-file -Dfile=tomcat-juli.jar -DgroupId=org.apa
che.tomcat -DartifactId=juli -Dversion=6.0.2-beta -Dpackaging=jar
-DgeneratePom=true

We are currently publishing to our tomcat repo
http://tomcat.apache.org/dev/dist/m2-repository/
Doesn't seem like I can publish to the central repo because it requires PGP
signatures and maven doesn't let you do that with single JAR if you're not
building with Maven.
If you have a way to get the PGP info in there in the way we are doing it now,
let us know and open a new bug.

I opened this bug to facilitate a conversation with Wendy about maven repos
before you started publishing to tomcat.apache.org. Now that the jars are
available to maven I agree that what you have already provided supersedes what
is provided in the patch so this bug can be closed. I'm not sure how to get
around the problem you mentioned about PGP signatures. I'll ask our local maven
guru and route his feedback to dev @ tomcat. Thanks.
