JDK requirement
I am new to Karaf and OSGi in general, but I'm trying to understand why Karaf
has a JDK requirement if it is a runtime container instead of just JRE.
Is there a way I can work around this requirement? If so, how? Or what
assumption/context am I not getting?

I don't think the requirement is on the jdk but on the jre.
