Duplicated User List messages + Relay Access Denied for server-user@james.apache.org

Hi Everyone

Just a quick one for now people.

I have been following this User list for a while now,
ever since I installed James at our companies head
office. I often receive 3-4 copies of the same
message. Is this happening to anyone else? Its quite
annoying :(

Secondly, and even more serious is that fact that
anyone wishing to add to the knowledge base of
problems/solutions etc, faces the possibilty of their
email never reaching the user lists due to the
"server-user@james.apache.org" ADDRESS been listed as
a relay or something. This needs to get fixed ASAP if
we are not to miss out on valuable contributions.

Regards

Steve Goodey

OK,

I'm starting to think that the duplicate copies of user list messages are
due to some stupid problem with M$ Outlook 2003 and its message rules. So
forget about that one.

However the second issue still stands. I just tried to email the user list
with a test message, and again I got the same message in return.

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'James Users List' on 17/05/2004 16:33
            554 <se...@james.apache.org>: Recipient address rejected:
Relay access denied

This was sent via an email account I have with gotadsl.co.uk, I have no idea
what mail server they are running.

Noel, comments like "No one should be using BLARS" are not helpful, and
either the address is blacklisted elsewhere or some people/companies clearly
are using Blars in an attempt to block spam.

Would it not be a better idea to simply get the address removed?

No. And I use James to handle my e-mail. Is this happening with James as
the MTA or another MTA? You should be able to check your server logs, as
well as the message headers.

Where? I assume you mean the IP address of mail.apache.org, since that is
from where the e-mail would originate. Checking OpenRBL, I found only:

  http://openrbl.org/ip/209/237/227/199.htm

No one should be using BLARS (see: http://www.blars.org/errors/block.html).

The block code for mail.apache.org is 127.1.0.32, which means that someone
hosted within the 209.237.224.0/20 subnet is considered a spam web site by
Blars, resulting in the entire UnitedLayer address space being blocked.
