If the program crashes and I click the Cancel button when asking if I want to
recover my work, then the main page isn't showing while Writer does instead.

I don't understand what you means
Could you illustrate with screenshots each step?

Once all of this is done, please set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED and we will
attempt to reproduce the issue.
