[users@httpd] Strange things in error_log

Hello,

I'm working with the exception of cgi and trying to figure that one out.
Getting this msg:

[Fri Jan 17 10:11:21 2003] [error] [client 192.168.1.1] client denied by
server configuration: /var/www/cgi-bin/php

But my biggest issue is all the strange things that are showing up in my
error log. Here you go:

[Thu Jan 16 20:49:47 2003] [error] [client 24.103.102.26] File does not
exist: /var/www/html/c/winnt/system32/cmd.exe
[Thu Jan 16 20:49:56 2003] [error] [client 24.103.102.26] File does not

[Thu Jan 16 20:50:04 2003] [error] [client 24.103.102.26] File does not
exist: /var/www/html/scripts/..%5c../winnt/system32$
[Thu Jan 16 20:50:16 2003] [error] [client 24.103.102.26] File does not
exist: /var/www/html/_vti_bin/..%5c../..%5c../..%5c$
[Thu Jan 16 20:50:23 2003] [error] [client 24.103.102.26] File does not
exist: /var/www/html/_mem_bin/..%5c../..%5c../..%5c$
[Thu Jan 16 20:50:32 2003] [error] [client 24.103.102.26] File does not
exist: /var/www/html/msadc/..%5c../..%5c../..%5c/..$
[Thu Jan 16 20:50:42 2003] [error] [client 24.103.102.26] File does not
exist: /var/www/html/scripts/..Á^\../winnt/system32$
[Thu Jan 16 21:07:02 2003] [error] [client 80.130.140.70] File does not
exist: /var/www/html/scripts/..À¯../winnt/system32/$
[Thu Jan 16 21:07:03 2003] [error] [client 80.130.140.70] File does not
exist: /var/www/html/scripts/.%2e/.%2e/winnt/system$

I moved the web site from one server to this one, so there's something
in a config somewhere that I don't have on this system. It happens for
anyone who accesses a Conferenceroom chat server through a link on my
web page.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

You are right about that. I didn't know if it was a script from my
other co-located server or what. While it's harmless it's annoying to
me. I guess I can just let it go and not worry with it unless there is
something else I can do.

Thanks!

Try searching for that message on Google, you'll find that that's the Nimda
virus I believe. Especially if you're running *nix it'll have no effect on
you except to grow your log files.

Cheers,
Eric

Funny this came up just yesterday in the topic "Errors". Take a look
at what "Erwien Samantha Y" wrote on the subject of keeping certain
lines out of the logs (since the main effect of these calls on Unix is
to fill up the logs). I going to put the suggestions in place since I
find that they'll work in my .htaccess file (assuming my server has the
'set_envif' module loaded).

You may want to ask your first question again, since that's a different
subject, but include more information about your server; and what is AT
/var/www/cgi-bin/php? Let me suggest that you do a search of your
httpd.conf file on that string ("...cgi-bin/php") to see if anything
is supposed to be there.
