[jira] [Created] (UIMA-2140) Annotations Styles view problematic when short type name exists in multiple packages

Annotations Styles view problematic when short type name exists in multiple packages
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: UIMA-2140
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/UIMA-2140
             Project: UIMA
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: CasEditor
    Affects Versions: 2.3.1SDK
            Reporter: Richard Eckart de Castilho

The "Annotation Styles" view only shows simple names (no package information). This can be quite confusing and annoying when two or more types with the same simple name exists in multiple packages.

A flattened package view like in the Package Explorer may be convenient.

The problem applies to other views using only short names as well.

I tried to also use full type names in the Annotation Style view, but they need a lot of more space to be displayed. Since I did not had a strong need for them I just continued to use short names.

The proposed name space tree structure could be a good way to safe space.

In many other places the short names have already been replaced with full names since the 2.3.1 release.

Depending on the use case we want to use short names or the full name. The user should have an option in the preferences of the Cas Editor to choose what he preferes.
