uname -a gives:

I have downloaded the file 'xerces-c-current.tar.gz' from the above URL to my
PC, then used FTP in binary mode to move the file onto the Sun box. I then
tried to extract it with the command:
gunzip < xerces-c-current.tar.gz | tar xvf -
This gives a 'tar: directory checksum error' message. Here is the full log from
the gunzip command:
