How do I access a webservice via HTTPS?

Well, it really should be simple, but the fact is that
I'm behind a firewall and I've set the proxyHost and
proxyPort properties, but when JSSE tries to connect
to the proxy, it raises an IOException, because it
expects to receive HTTP/1.0 instead of HTTP/1.1 in the
proxy reply.

There is an article about a way to overcome this
problem in JavaWorld
(http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip111.html?).

I'd like to know if anyone has encountered this
problem and if there is any other way to solve it,
instead of having to write custom code (as detailed in
the JavaWorld article).

Many thanks,

Nuno Guerreiro
