Understanding MapReduce Source Code

Hi,

I am working on a course project that requires modifying hadoop source code
a bit. I was wondering about the best way to understand MapReduce code and
how it is executed. Is there a detailed "code-wise" tutorial about
executing MapReduce Jobs?
