It looks like this may be related to this one:

This is a pretty annoying regression in the jdks, if passing the target flag to the compiler isn't enough to make it usable in jdk8.
Which version of ORC are you using? When I compile the 1.5.5 binaries, I'll make sure to use jdk 8.
