[I] log4j-docgen: Missing `additivity` attribute for LoggerConfig [logging-log4j-tools]
ppkarwasz opened a new issue, #135:
URL: https://github.com/apache/logging-log4j-tools/issues/135
The auto-generated schema does not allow an `additivity` attribute on `<Logger>` elements.
This might be caused by the fact that multiple plugins generate `LoggerConfig` objects and `<Root>` does not have such an attribute.

Hi @markyag-spgdji,
We have fixed the problem in the generator, but we have neither released a new version of `log4j-docgen` nor published updated schemas. Thank you for the reminder: I'll add it to my TODO list.

I'm not so sure I find this logic convincing. You already ship a bad schema with every jar. Why not ship a good one instead?
But not my decision. Either way, thanks for fixing additivity!

That is a very old version: we **did** ship a hand crafted schema, but we don't do it any more. The decoupling between schema and JAR happened around 2024 (2.23.* or 2.24.*).

@markyag-spgdji, we decided to decouple the schema from the JARs for the very reason that not every Log4j release imply an API change. Plus, we can retroactively _fix_ schemas if we encounter a schema generator bug, which is the case here. Placing schemas back into JARs will be a step backwards.
Submitted apache/logging-site#23 to update the XSD.

Hi @markyag-spgdji,
What do you mean? We don't ship the configuration schema in the JAR. If you mean the schema that is included in the `3.x` series, please make a PR and remove all the XML Schemas and DTDs.

This is marked as closed but the schemas here: https://logging.apache.org/xml/ns/ still don't have it. Is this really fixed?

I'm talking about things like `log4j-core-2.17.1.jar!\Log4j-config.xsd`
