The classes in this package were originally intended to support rich text editing in TextArea. However, they add unnecessary complexity to the platform since the primary use case for TextArea (and TextInput, which uses org.apache.pivot.wtk.text.TextNode) is entering unformatted text. As a result, they will be deprecated, and the implementation of TextArea and TextInput will be simplified accordingly in a future release.
