Field boosting in DataImportHandler transformer

It's not looking very promising, but is there something I'm missing to be able to apply a field boost from within a transformer in the DataImportHandler? Not a boost defined within the schema, but a boost applied to the field from the transformer itself.

I know you can do a document boost, but I can't see anything for a field boost.
