I understand what you mean, and that is what I would like too, but IMO if you select a different JDK users may not understand this and believe it's a Netbeans issue if things do not work out.
Also, Netbeans expects to have a description of every Glassfish distribution, and 6.2 has yet to be done. Unfortunately ATM when you select 6.2.x it defaults to the nearest major version which is 6.0, and JDK is therefore restricted again, which is correct in that version.
What I would like to do is to make Netbeans default to the best nearest Glassfish (thus 6.2 at least would default to 6.1 and not 6.0) and also have a flag to try "experimental" JDKs, with a well defined warning.
I hope I can fix this in this month before the next feature freeze.
