number of downloads

hello infra guys,

is there a possibility, to check the number of downloads ?

For instance, for a file like
http://people.apache.org/dist/incubator/trinidad/1.0.0-incubating/trinidad-1.0.0-incubating-dist.tar.gz

My guess is, that it might be hard to have the exact number for the
Maven2 repo, isn't it ?

Thx,
Matthias

Yes, your guess is right. It's hard to find complete numbers of
downloads for Apache projects, because most of the downloads are not
served by us. Instead, they're served from mirrors. You can try to
do some pseudo-statistical guessing based on the number of mirrors
etc, but that's risky at best.

Vadim Gritsenko provides some statistics at
http://people.apache.org/~vgritsenko/stats/index.html, and these are
great. In fact I think they're the best source we've got. But it's
not granular enough for specific Incubator projects, only TLPs. And
it doesn't cover mirrors, as I noted above.
