build.properties and properties with whitepace at the end

In my build.properties file i had a property for a directory name (the name
of my dist directory).
It had a space at the end of it.
When i ran ant, it created the directory "dist ".     When I removed the
space, all was OK.

This was on Linux 2.4 with IBM jdk1.3.1 and Ant 1.4.
