[I] [Question] Is it possible to set dimensions order without having to include all the available dimensions? (druid)
jrodgut-sg opened a new issue, #15102:
URL: https://github.com/apache/druid/issues/15102
I want to speed up queries that filters on some fields, some I wanted to place those fields as the first dimension in the "dimensions" of the "dimensionsSpec" as stated at
https://druid.apache.org/docs/latest/ingestion/ingestion-spec/#dimensionsspec
> As a best practice, put the most frequently filtered dimensions at the beginning of the dimensions list.
At the same time at https://druid.apache.org/docs/latest/ingestion/ingestion-spec/#inclusions-and-exclusions it says
> Druid will interpret a dimensionsSpec in two possible ways: normal or schemaless.
>
> Normal interpretation occurs when either dimensions or spatialDimensions is non-empty. In this case, the combination of the two lists will be taken as the set of dimensions to be ingested, and the list of dimensionExclusions will be ignored
So if i understand that correctly if I want to prioritise some dimensions, as I'll need to set dimensions to non-empty, that will disable the schema-less mode. So any field that is not in the dimensions list will be ignored at ingestion and not available in the datasource. That forces to know and list all the possible fields we can receive. Is this correct? or is there any different way to prioritise some dimensions in schema-less mode?
