Making a field in a list editable

Hi

 

Can somebody please help me with making fields in a list editable eg:

When I navigate to the phases screen on the Project Application I get the
option to add a new phase and is also supplied with a list of existing
phases.  The list of existing phases gives me the option to edit/update the
phase name but all the other fields are un-editable.  How do I make any of
the fields eg Status editable?
