Currently, we have missing version information for Spark SQL's builtin functions. 
Please see https://spark-test.github.io/sparksqldoc/

For example, we could add the version information as below:

{code}
spark-sql> describe function extended datediff;
Function: datediff
...
Extended Usage:
    Examples:
      ...

    Since: 1.5.0
{code}

and also in the SQL builtin function documentation.
