"Release output directory" - what is it?

I couldn't find any hint. not even in JIRA (beside  CONTINUUM-1913)

Sorry, we should at least change the screen shot on
http://continuum.apache.org/docs/1.2.2/getting-started.html .

If you use the release feature of Continuum, this is the directory
where it will store the checkout of the tag.  Previously these were
stored in with the working copies, and there was no way to delete
them.  Now there is a tab in the web UI that will allow you to clean
them up.

I had to hunt for it, but I think it originally came from
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CONTINUUM-1830 .
