Re: failure notice

What technology was used for the VB client, e.g. MS SOAP Toolkit? If it is
the STK, is it the high level or low level API?

The content type in the VB client (application/x-www-form-urlencoded) is for
an HTTP POST invocation, not a SOAP invocation. Microsoft web services
support HTTP GET, HTTP POST and SOAP; you must be specific in executing SOAP
rather than either of the other 2. If you are invoking using the high level
API of the STK, you must edit the WSDL to remove HTTP GET and HTTP POST
message types.

For an STK interop overview, see, for example,
http://www.scottnichol.com/vbclientapachesoap.htm and
http://www.scottnichol.com/vbclienthiapachesoap.htm.

Dear All,
We are running Websphere Application Server 3.5.4 running on iSeries 5.1
I have installed Apache SOAP server(2.3) .
I have both RPC and Messaging service deployed.
Now when I call my RPC or Messaging service using my Java Client it works
perfectly.

However our vendor uses a VB client to send requests.
Now when we call using a VB client to call my service (RPC or Messaging) it
gives an error 500 with the following message:

<faultstring>Unsupported content type
"application/x-www-form-urlencoded", must be:
"text/xml".</faultstring>

In the request header in the VB client the Content Type is being set to
"text/xml".

I ran a comparison of the Request Headers from My Java Client and the one
from the VB client.

The Java client contains a value "SOAP Action" which is not there in the
request from VB client.

The VB client contains values such as Cookies, Keep-Alive, Session-Id etc.

I wonder if this is the reason for the error. If anyone has any idea how to
overcome this, please let me know.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ranga Jambunathan
Interamerican Motor Corporation
