Commit Failed: SVN: /build is not under version control

Hi

I recently setup a SVN repository and here are the details:
1. SVN Repository setup on Windows XP SP 2 using SVN as the server
protocol.
2. I use TortoiseSVN to access the repository on the client Windows
machines and everything works perfectly.
3. Yesterday I installed SVN client on the linux box and was able to
checkout a working copy and make changes to the code.
4. Doing a svn diff does show me the difference in the files I changed.
5. Now when I try to do svn commit I get the following message:
svn: Commit failed (details follow):
svn: '<path to working copy>/build' is not under version control

Problem is that I dont have a build directory in my repository or in the
working copy. I try to go into the 'source' directory inside working
copy and there again I do the svn commit. This time I get error of
<workingcopy>/source/build not under version control. To test it out I
created a build directory and added using svn add. Now I try to commit
and I get an error <workingcopy>/source/problems is not under version
control.

Anybody can help why I am getting these errors for directories that dont
exist anywhere?

Also is it ok to that the svn server on windows if I need to have a
checkout copy on linux also?

Cheers
Pankaj

What's the output of "svn status" on this working copy?

Did these directories exist before, but were removed, perhaps by a
build process (i.e. without informing Subversion of the deletion)?

That's fine.
