Latest commits now include filemgr and workflowmgr integration. The work in progress archetype is now committed in the trunk (http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/oodt/trunk/mvn/archetypes/radix/).

Paul Ramirez commented on OODT-120:
-----------------------------------

The attached patch doesn't work quite right and instead the larger radix archetype that will create a build for all components will better address this issue. It will be developed in mvn/archetype/radix. Incoming commit to lay the ground structure. It will be a work in progress so I won't tie it into the larger build right away.

GREAT JOB!

I'd encourage anyone that's interested in simplifying the development of OODT components to participate in the development and discussion around this issue...

Paul Ramirez updated OODT-120:
------------------------------

    Attachment: OODT-120.pramirez.20110202.patch.txt

The first attached patch (OODT-120.pramirez.20110202.patch.txt) gives a sample of where I was thinking of going with this. I'd like to have an archetype for each of the major components in OODT and possibly a multimodule archetype. The patch helps someone get started with a new filemgr for their project fairly fast.

To use apply the patch:

cd filemgr-archetype
mvn install
cd ..
mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeCatalog=local

The last command filters out all the other maven installed archetypes and only shows you the local ones. For OODT version use 0.2 or 0.1-incubating. Since the artifacts are not currently pushed to Maven Central you will have to have previously installed the OODT version.

Chris A. Mattmann commented on OODT-120:
----------------------------------------

Some comments:

# the product types as an example are the LMMP ones -- we should replace those with things like GenericFile, maybe TraceableFile and some of the other baked in types.
# the DemoExtractor and DemoVersioner should actually implement those interfaces
# we should bake in the policy along with env var replacement and then ask that as an archetype parameter (what's the root policy path, etc etc)

Looks good. I think we should address the above before committing. Then, the question is, where to commit? My proposal:

{noformat}
mvn/archetype/filemgr
{noformat}

Thoughts?

This morning I will be adding the radix deployment dir structure into oodt/branches/radix-deployment. Comments on the deployment structure are welcome. This will be the default way RADiX will deploy the OODT components. Please see the wiki page for more details: https://cwiki.apache.org/OODT/radix-powered-by-oodt.html
