HttpClient 5.7-alpha1 release notes
Folks,
Please review HttpClient 5.7-alpha1 release notes and amend them as you
deem necessary.
https://github.com/apache/httpcomponents-client/blob/master/RELEASE_NOTES.txt
This would also be a good moment to make sure that the master branch
builds cleanly and passes all tests in your local environment.
Arturo
This would also be a good moment to decide if you want to mark the SSE
and WebSocket modules as experimental. Those modules have a huge API
footprint and you need to be reasonably sure you have not missed
something critical. The benefit of marking those modules as
experimental would be a relaxed API compatibility policy for them. We
could even disable japicmp check for them in the 5.7 release series
unless you are reasonably sure their APIs are stable enough.
Jakarta REST client API footprint is relatively small and I am
confident it should be possible to maintain backward compatibility for
the module once it goes GA.
Cheers
Oleg

I made a few spelling fixes and ordered the notable section to group
the experimental entries together and put them up front.

Hi Oleg,
Yes, that sounds reasonable. I will look into marking the SSE and
WebSocket modules as experimental. I’ll do it ASAP.
Cheers,
Arturo
