How to clear all messages (warning, information, exception) put into the message List ?
Hi All,
How do you clear all the messages that are stored in the messages List
in the Faces Context?
The problem is that if I define a command button with type="reset" then
it will not work if there are any messages in the message queue. The
invoke application phase gets bypassed.
Is there any way in which messages can be cleared when a reset button is
clicked. I mean have a command button with type="reset" and first clear
off messages before the button acts?

There shouldn't be validation messages in 'immediate' mode, because the
validation step does not occur.

Thanks for your replies.
Only after trying everything i wrote this mail. What you have suggested has
been tried but it does not work when there are validation messages on the
page.
I even tried methods for forcing a new view as mentioned in the myfaces wiki
but it does not work when the screens have tabs and it also does not work in
pop ups.
I do not want to traverse the entire tree for the page and reset controls.
Therefore i asked if there was a way in which messages can be removed from
the list.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
if you add a immediate="true" to the button, the validation and updateModel
phases are skipped, so no messages are created, and invokeApplication phase
is executed.

Hi,
try using the style attribute with a css attribute: style="width: 150px".
