[GitHub] cordova-plugin-inappbrowser pull request: Make WP respect location...

GitHub user mvirkkunen opened a pull request:

    https://github.com/apache/cordova-plugin-inappbrowser/pull/134

    Make WP respect location=no

The WP version reads the location parameter but seemingly never uses it. This would make it hide the "AppBar" with the back/next/exit buttons which seem to be the closest thing to a location bar it has.

You can merge this pull request into a Git repository by running:

    $ git pull https://github.com/mvirkkunen/cordova-plugin-inappbrowser wp-respect-location-no

Alternatively you can review and apply these changes as the patch at:

    https://github.com/apache/cordova-plugin-inappbrowser/pull/134.patch

To close this pull request, make a commit to your master/trunk branch
with (at least) the following in the commit message:

    This closes #134

You are correct, thanks for helping me to see it. The meaning of 'location' is somewhat vague.
I will test this pr in the morning and merge if all is good, but it looks good.
I'll also update the documentation to reflect the weirdness, and create issues to ratify.

The WP version does not show a location bar, so this is irrelevant, hiding AppBar is not even close to the same thing. If you want to make WP respect the location parameter, you'll need to make it show a location when the value is 'yes'. It currently respects the value 'no' and nothing else.

As far as I could tell on Android at least it hides the bar with the back/next buttons. It would also be in line with how browsers such as Chrome and Firefox react to location=no, i.e. by hiding the back/next buttons (the actual address bar isn't hidden for security reasons).

Also your README states that on Windows, "Please note that if location=no is also specified, there will be no control presented to user to close IAB window.", which would further imply that the purpose of location=no is to indeed hide the AppBar, which also has the close button.

I do still need this and it feels like a feature that could be of use to others as well - would it make more sense to implement it as a new platform-specific option, such as appbar=no?

That's what toolbar option makes on iOS

toolbar: set to yes or no to turn the toolbar on or off for the InAppBrowser (defaults to yes)

The "AppBar" looks like the iOS toolbar to me, not the location bar
