DO NOT REPLY [Bug 45489] New: TCP/IP v6 support before 3 years

https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=45489

           Summary: TCP/IP v6 support before 3 years
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.3-HEAD
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P2
         Component: Core
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: jmichae3@yahoo.com

this may be already done - I hope it has. The internet is running out of
TCP/IPv4 addresses and will be full up in 3 years according to a London report.

this means support for ip addresses with 6 numbers separated by periods if I am
not mistaken.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6

there are also some rather unusual addressing methods defined, including one
that involvdes hexadecimal...
http://[2001:0db8:85a3:08d3:1319:8a2e:0370:7348]/.

you can even address the individual ethernet card with a %eth0 near the end.

frankly, I don't see any configuration examples that include IPv6.
it is now July 2008.

Apache 2.0 and higher have IPv6 support.
Ask for help on a user support group if you are not able to utilize it.

btw, this goes for James and all the other internet apps as well. native
support would be best.

sometimes the leading 0's are ommitted, and zero values are ommitted.
