[Discuss] Apache Karaf 2.3.1 RC in two weeks time?

Hi All,

First off, happy new year to the community, secondly, I'd like to
schedule Apache Karaf 2.3.1 RC for two weeks time from now.

We have a lot of resolved issues at the moment, and several issues in
progress. I think 2 weeks should be sufficient to close up these
in-flight issues, then prep for the RC build.

Are there any issues that anyone sees as a show stopper that would
require a longer development window?

Cheers,
Jamie

It would be nice if Aries keeps up with its snapshot builds deployed
at apache snaphot repository, making early integration easier.

I did for some Aries bundles, but not all, my bad.

I will take care of that on *all* Aries bundles next time.

+1 - particularly if we're specifically waiting for fixes from Aries.

I would prefer to propose a clean 2.3.1 fixing one of the major issue in
2.3.0. I don't want to hurry to release 2.3.1 without the Aries fix.

I'm sure that Dan will be able to cut off a new Aries release quickly.
If it's take too much time, I will see how to move forward.

It's just a question of days, no more.

What about releasing 2.3.1 with the *same* Aries release as 2.3.0.
At least end users of Karaf 2.3.0 gets the fixes.

And when the new Aries release is out and has been tested and works etc.
Then Karaf 2.3.2 can be released.

I updated Aries JMX, Blueprint, ... in Karaf 2.3.1-SNAPSHOT, but
unfortunately, this Aries release introduced two new issues.

I created the Jira and provide fixes, I'm afraid that it will require a

Does anyone got a link handy to information about this "affected"

I could not find any mail on the @dev mailing list at Aries about a

Anyone got a link or details about this?

Hi guys,

as reminder, Karaf 2.3.x is "affected" by the same issue affecting
trunk. So, we should wait the new Aries Blueprint release to fix that.

I gonna update to the SNAPSHOT (as I did on the trunk). The release has
started at Aries (not yet complete).

Hi Claus,

The RC run starts this week. We gave ourselves 2 weeks to get current
inflight issues resolved or scheduled for another version.

Hi

Any update on a Karaf 2.3.1 release?

Its 11 days since you you wrote this mail. It would be great to get
this release out to the community soon.
Its 3 months since the 2.3.0 release and when using a new minor
release then as a community user,
would love to see sooner patch releases to iron out the glitches and
bugs that it has. So running on a more
stable server is possible.

It would be good for the next minor/major release that the 1st patch
release comes out quicker.

Re: [Discuss] Apache Karaf 2.3.1 RC in two weeks time?

Posted by Jean-Baptiste Onofré <jb...@nanthrax.net>.
Hi Claus,

we need one additional binding vote to release Aries JMX 1.1.1
(Guillaume ?).

Achim and I will release Pax Web 1.1.12 tomorrow or so.

Today, I'm fixing the latest issue with 2.3.1 as target.

Regards
JB
