Maven-New - progress
FYI:
The weekend has be quite fruitful for maven-new. The code is getting
to be in shape.
Recently I have started to test DependecySatisfier class.
I believe that this class can be tested without using "real"
ArtifactDownloader
as it is important just to see if artifact downaloader was called when it
should.
I plan to test in using Mock Artifact Downloder which will let me to
simulate
various scenarios and log all the calls (and checks if they match
expectation)
To test DependecySatisfier:
- check if artifact downloader is called every time when there is
unsatisfied dependency
and see how it will behave when downloader reports that it:
o can deliver such dependency
o cannot deliver it
- check how SNAPSHOT dependencies are processed
- assure that downloader is not called for "overridden" deps.
Once this is done ( AFAIK Ben/Paulo will take care to test "real"
ArtifactDownloader/ ArtifactVerifier)
There will be one more class left to test: ArtifactProcessor which is the
central part of
Artifact Processing and basically it is not adding anything new to
functinality, but defining the workflow.
So it should be quite easy to test as in fact nothing bad can happen there.
After having tests for whatever is already implemented still few new things
should be added and then
tested (artifact handlers: e.g. JARHandler)
So I hope that fully usable and well tested Artifact related part of
maven-new is close to be ready.
Probably 2-3 man days away.
Unfortunately I will have no time to do anything today. Could be the same
also for tomorrow.
But I should be back in action from Wednesday. If somebody will have time
to see what I did (please provide critics) or even take a close look at
DependecySatisfier class
and propse some test case or even write some code this would be just great.
