ANN: Xerces C++ 1.1.0 and XML4C 3.1.0 is now available!!
Finally my friends that blessed day hath arrived. Version 1.1.0 of the
Apache Xerces parser and Version 3.1.0 of the XML4C parser are now
available on their respective sites, www.apache.org and
www.alphaworks.ibm.com.
Its been a long time coming and we do appologize or the delays; however, we
feel that this release is the best yet. Its got new features, its far and
away the most tested version yet released, and its faster, more compliant
and more stable than anything we've released so far.
We hope you experience as much joy from its use as we did pain from its
creation :-) Please feel free to let us know how you feel about this new
release and how we might improve it, and definitely please report any bugs
you might encounter so that we can fix them in subsequent releases.

Surely the best way to do this is to use scp (secure copy) -- I assume
the Apache boxen have ssh installed. If you've got a login on locus you
can copy the files to your home directory and from there wherever
they're needed (even using loopback ftp or something).

Rahul,
You can do the upload in two steps. First, FTP the files to a host outside
of IBM firewall. Next, login to locus and FTP from locus to that host to
get those files.

Since, yez. I have been trying to upload the binaries to the Apache
machine, but have been unsuccessful. There is no FTP access available
to that machine and the only way to upload is to use the 'ZModem'
feature of 'SerureCRT'. Unfortunately, it has crashed on me now for
the sixth, time while trying to upload.
Got the same crashes to both 'locus.apache.org' as well as
'taz.apache.org'. It goes half way and then crashes.
This time I am going to try uploading one file at a time. If all goes
well, you should see the new binaries in the 'dist' directory soon.
If anyone has a better solution, please let us know.
We plan to do nightly builds for Xerces and would like to make these
binaries available for everyone. So an automated solution for transferring
files is really needed.

This is good news, but I can only see the d15 version on Apache's
http://xml.apache.org/dist/:
Xerces-C_1_1_0_d15-linux.tar.gz 25-Feb-2000 18:12 1.4M
Xerces-C_1_1_0_d15-win32.zip 25-Feb-2000 18:12 1.8M
I'm guessing the final builds should be dated later than this?
(Obviously I can just run over to CVS and build my own, but I kinda
wanted to use a pre-built 'release' version).
Cheers,
Mike.
