Performance and Scalability

I have been evaluating Xindice for about a month now and I am  very 
impressed.

We plan on holding several thousand xml documents within the database, 
growing at a rate of 2000-3000 documents per month. The document size is 
small ( from 10-100k).

Has anyone had any experience with using xindice with a large amount of 
documents? What is the performance like.

What is the best strategy with regards to collections? At the moment 
they will be stored in 3 collections. Would more collections or 
sub-collections be more efficient?
