Re: Why are there two public diversity lists?

While I'm not subscribed to either list, I did see some of the turn-up of the new committee while assisting Gris with the needed Foundation-y things. With that:

As I recall, diversity@ was intended as a public discussion forum. To include non-Apache people.

(and dev@ follows our typical pattern of getting-inside-work-done)

Re: Why are there two public diversity lists?

The original idea behind keeping the two lists was to have one list for the
philosophical discussions that were so "well-loved" at the time of that
creation, and one list for the discussions about the actual work of
monitoring diversity at Apache and proposing interventions.

People weren't very good at conforming to the intended pattern, and the
philosophical discussions seem to have mostly died down. I don't think
anyone will miss the loss of diversity@ now.

Best,
Myrle

I am +0.8 on getting rid of diversity@ and keeping only dev@diversity.

I see only one substantive discussion on diversity@ and don't see much need to keep it.

Hi folks,

What do you think about keeping only one list (dev@) for both purposes:

public discussion forum, to include non-Apache people.

and getting-inside-work-done

Most of our communications/activity happen in dev@ and it is public.

I believe Greg is right, though the level of activity on the lists has shown that it doesn’t really seem to be necessary at this time. Almost all activity has been on the subdomain.
