use regex for path matching
I found posts talking about adding the use of regular
expressions for controlling access, but that was over 3 years ago. Are
there any plans to implement this?

The pre-commit triggers use regular expressions for controlling write
(commit) access.
The Apache configuration that controls general read access does not.
I believe the current python based access pre-commit trigger uses
regular expressions.

Look at http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.version-control.subversion.devel/100753
There is a simple and efficient patch to do it.
Hope it helps,
Andrea
