Weird trouble accesing static members

I wrote a mailet for james, it loads correctly but when i try to call 
a static method of another class that just sets a static variable of
that class, it just hangs (no error message at all)...

the code is like the following:

public class MailetClass extends GenericMailet{

public void init() throws javax.mail.MessagingException
{
	MyOtherClass.staticMethod(new ClassX());
}

....

public class MyOtherClass{
	public staticMethod(ClassX x){
		MyOtherClass.x = x;
	}
	private static ClassX x;
}

i know that the trouble its while calling staticMethod... and i dont
have problems accessing non-static ones...

All the classes are contained in james.bar (i just added the .class to 
james.bar)...
