Assign to a JIRA ticket

Hi everyone,
I hope you are doing well. I am reaching because I've been working with
Kafka for a while and looking forward to contributing.
I am intending to fix bugs, and report on JIRA (ID: IgnacioAcunaFri), and I
want to request access to be able to assign myself onto some of them.
Is it possible for me to do that?
