   For anyone else winding up here, I wrapped out catalog in `CachingCatalog` and observed a change in the logging that indicated `FileIO` objects were being reused. This did not result in a reduction of `lakeformation:GetDataAccess` calls as observed in CloudTrail, however. Also table write times didn't go down noticeably.
