Introducing Axis J2ME (JSR 172 implementation)

Hi all,

I'm very glad to announce that Axis is now going to the J2ME world with an
JSR 172 (http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=172) implementation called "Axis
J2ME". This message is intended to draw your attention to Axis J2ME before
it's available on ws-axis/contrib CVS.

Here's what you can expect from that:

ws-axis/contrib/j2me/rpc - JSR 172 RPC part implementation
ws-axis/contrib/j2me/xml - JSR 172 XML part implementation

The two independent modules are provided such that it's possible to use
either or both on J2ME platform. Currently Axis J2ME aims at CLDC and hence
naturally supports CDC as well. I tested it on SK-VM (CLDC) and Zaurus
(CDC).

I have to admit that there's challenges to build and test Axis J2ME on a
variety of J2ME devices and development environments. I hope we all enjoy
making Axis J2ME better and better for the open source world, yes, not only
the server side but also the client side in J2ME.

Thanks,

Ias
