Re[2]: Fwd:Anyone tried J2EE Servlet support?
Craig,
Thanks for responding to this question. I'll look for further documentation in
the release.

The release has the same public_html directory, but the only thing in it is an
index.html file. It wasn't clear from the documentation or lack of examples
that I found where to install servlets. I assume I can just put war files or a
web-inf directory in the public_html directory although I haven't tried it.
In addition to the J2EE documentation package, they have the Sun BluePrints
Design Guide which talks about developing enterprise applications with the J2EE.
It desribes general concepts, but doesn't document their reference
implementation.
Perhaps the Sun team will add documentation and examples for building ear files
or war files with servlets and running them in their reference implementation. I
don't know if I would have been able to figure it out without experience with
TomCat and this group.

I would check on the J2EE pages at JavaSoft (http://java.sun.com/j2ee) -- there
should be a reference to any J2EE related lists there.

It does. The bug fixes done by this team have pretty much been folded back into
the
main code that is present in 3.0.

Be sure to download the J2SDK documentation package as well. What used to be
called
the Application Programming Model (now it's "Best Design Guide" or some such
marketing malarkey :-) is also incredibly useful.
I've still got the beta release of J2SDK on my system, but it has a
"public_html"
directory under which you can find the "WEB-INF" subdirectory.
