[users@httpd] Error in error_log, relating to mod_auth_mysql

'morning, all.

I've been seeing an error among some of our servers.  They're
load-balanced, but I think that's irrelevant.  I say that because I have
a very large testing base to preform some tests on if I need to.  The
error is as follows:

[Mon Nov  3 02:30:52 2003] [error] (2)No such file or directory:
Unsupported encryption type

I posted this question a couple weeks ago, we really couldn't come up
with anything.  I know it relates to mod_auth_mysql because a simple
recrusive grep of the mod_auth_mysql install dir finds it in a .c file. 
That's the only occourance of this error.  

Now, someone had pointed me to a web posting on linuxquestions.org I
believe, and it indicated that encryption of the username is happening
in PHP instead of MySQL, so when the data is imported, the password is
pretty much "double encoded", which is bad.  

Even though it's very very old and there is very little support for it
anymore, I would like to continue using mod_auth_mysql.  I was hoping
that some others had some input for me as to what exactly was going on.
