A fresh entity hell with XSP

Hello all,

I'm baffled: If I want to output the trademark symbol using  
&#0153;

in XML/XSLT to HTML, that works fine. However, in XSP the 
&#0153; 

is "eaten" and in the HTML result is replaced with:
?

I'm using Cocoon 1.7
JServ 1.1.1
Apache 1.3.12
and (bleeeaaaah) Win98

Did I miss something in FAQs?
