autodeploy without monitoring web.xml changes in tomcat 5.0.28

Is there a way to have autodeploy="true", but inhibit a redeploy when
only the web.xml is changed.

I'm using 5.0.28 not 5.5 so I do not have a context.xml file with
WatchedResources.
