[jira] Created: (INFRA-1461) Create woden-commits@ws.apache.org

Create woden-commits@ws.apache.org
----------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-1461
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-1461
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: New Feature
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Mailing Lists
            Reporter: Lawrence Mandel

Woden recently graduated into the Web Services project. A new Woden commit list needs to be set up under the ws.apache.org domain. The new list should be

woden-commits@ws.apache.org

I think the list of moderators should likely be the same as the current list for woden-commits@incubator.apache.org although I would like to double check the list. I tried to get the list of moderators on the current list but can't figure out how to do it from the instructions on [1]

"If you have access to apmail, you can just change the list of subscribers to list/mod. For example for the mod_perl dev list that is in ~apmail/lists/perl.apache.org/dev/mod/. Use ezmlm-list, ezmlm-sub and ezmlm-unsub to do that.
To determine who are the existing moderators, any committer can use the technique described in the "committers" SVN module at /docs/resources.txt"

I can't find apmail/lists and don't know where the comitters SVN module is.

With the creation of this list the woden-commits@incubator.apache.org list is no longer required. What is the policy for old lists? If they are deleted please delete this one. (There is no archive of this list.)

-------------------------------------

I haven't a clue what the two of you are talking about.
I see no such list as woden-commits@incubator.apache.org,
all i see is an alias from that address to woden-dev@ws.

It seems like what is required here is for that alias to be
replaced by an actual mailing list separate from woden-dev@ws.

Yes. That will work fine. My only requirement is that our commits list be in the ws.apache.org domain.

BTW, I received an e-mail from woden-cvs@ws.apache.org. It's possible our list has been changed to this list. Is there somewhere I can check? (If it has moved I would prefer woden-commits as we use SVN not CVS.)

Thanks.

    Resolution: Fixed

done. svn is still configured to send to *-cvs as it is a default rule for ws.apache.org, and changing it would likely break a number of subprojects if corresponding commit aliases were not created

Lawrence, as outlined above there is no commits list at present. There are two aliases: woden-commits@incubator and woden-cvs@ws, both that just direct mail to woden-dev@ws.

Would you like:
a) a woden-commits@ws alias that behaves as at present; or,
b) a new mailing list for woden-commits

Thanks!
